Bonivital Softball Spring Swing Tournament Thrills Players and Fans

Dozens of teams and hundreds of young athletes and their families (fans) enjoyed a perfect weekend for softball at Bonivital's Spring Swing tournament in Winnipeg May 23-25.

It's the third year Bonivital Softball Association hosted the major tournament this year featuring 79 games played on 6 softball diamonds in south Winnipeg. While previous years were successful in spite of rainy weather, the 2025 edition hit a home run with Mother Nature, seeing 3 full days of sun and blue skies.

39 teams in 4 age divisions competed in the round robin Friday and Saturday, with the top teams advancing to the playoffs Sunday. Teams competed to take home the tournament's unique prize. Each player on the first and second place winning teams in each age group received a collectible softball trophy to be signed by all teammates after the final game, creating a lasting memory of the tournament and their teams.

The tournament would not have been possible without the work of many volunteers making things run smoothly at Riel Park, Charing Cross Park, Victor Wyatt School and at the canteen/gift store inside the St. Vital Arena. Many thanks also to all the players, families, umpires and sponsors who made the tournament a success.
