2024 Bonivital Spring Swing Tournament

Jun. 03, 2024

Bonivital Softball's Spring Swing tournament was a big success again this year, despite a few curve balls from mother nature.

The event had to be postponed from its original date due to heavy rains, but went ahead May 31 - June 2 during a couple of sunny, dry days.

'A' teams from around Winnipeg and Southern Manitoba competed at Riel Park and Charing Cross Park in south Winnipeg. Age groups U11, U13, U15 and U17 played.

"It wasn't easy for teams and families to reschedule, and our amazing team of volunteers had their hands full changing plans on the fly and working hard to get waterlogged ball diamonds in shape to play," says BVSA President Lucy Chura. "Thank you to everyone who participated and made this great event possible."

Spring Swing has become a community event in southeast Winnipeg, drawing support and sponsorship from several area businesses, city councillors, and local MLAs and MPs.

After games on Friday evening and all day Saturday, the top teams in each age group faced off in playoffs. U11 Altona Blue Angels came out on top with U11 Bonivital Blue coming in second; Altona was also the top team in U13 with Balmoral Orioles taking the silver medal; U15 MacDonald Storm Grey won gold with NESA Storm Orange the runners up; and Balmoral took the top prize in U17, with Bonivital Blue in second.
